Skins

The new WinBolo version 1.15 has built in skin support, allowing players to change the game sounds, graphics and background. Please note, this page will take 6 minutes and 30 seconds to load on a 56kbps connection!

How do I use skins?
You must create a directory called "skins" under your main winbolo directory. Then you place the .zip or .wsf file containing the skin in the newly created "skins" directory.
Note: If you decompress the archive the skin will not work!

After you've setup the directory you can start WinBolo and click the "skins" button, from there it should show a listing of all the skins in your skins directory. If it doesn't list the skins you've copied, check to be sure you followed the directions properly.

How do I make my own skin?
You can download the default skin and edit it however you like. The default skin contains 2 image files screen.bmp and skin.bmp. Once you open the files you'll see that one is the dashboard (screen.bmp) and the other (skin.bmp) is for game play. You can edit them with anyone of the many image editors out there, you just have to keep within the current boundaries.

Once you've finished editing the images you need to archive them in .zip format. Note that the skin items in the zip file cannot be contained in directories, as WinBolo will not read them. For further information about skins please refer to the WinBolo manual (pages 36-37).

Where can I download skins?
You can download the latest skins on the FTP in the skins directory. Currently there are so many more skins being created each day I'm having trouble keeping up. Hence the FTP site will have the newest stuff, and this page will be updated every few weeks. As of today (9-29) I've added links on this page to download all of the skins created to date.  The skins are listed in reverse chronological order (newest first, oldest last). Starting today I will add the date in which they were added to the page.
